Kiel Christianson: Faldo blames "the moon" for Tiger Woods' missed cut at the Quail Hollow Championship

I'm normally pretty forgiving of broadcast golf announcers. They have to fill a lot of dead air, and then all of the sudden, something spectacular (or spectacularly bad) happens, and they have to think -- and speak -- really fast.

But today, I heard something that I just can't let pass. After the litany of statistics had been read related to Tiger Woods's two futile days at Quail Hollow, Faldo, in either sincere or affected bewilderment, muttered, "Blame it on the moon."

Really, Sir Faldo? The moon? You think it's the MOON that's responsible for the worst play of Tiger's career? Like maybe his tides are off or something?

Yeah, that's probably it. Move along people. Return to your homes. Nothing more to see (or say) here!

Either tell it like it is, Sir Faldo, or say nothing at all. Don't blame heavenly bodies.... Oh, wait -- maybe that's what the former King of the Bad Quote was getting at.

Could he be that clever?
