'Par 3 Kauai' package offers rounds on island's top three courses

LIHUE, KAUAI, Hawaii -- The Kauai Beach Hotel & Resort, set to become the Hilton Kauai Beach Resort later this summer, is offering golfers a chance to play--and possibly par--all three of Kauai’s top courses with its new “Par 3 Kauai” golf package. The 25-acre deluxe beachfront property is centrally located on Kauai’s eastern shore, providing the ideal home base to experience Kauai’s three most highly-acclaimed courses: Poipu Bay Golf Course on Kauai’s south shore, the Kiele Course at Kauai Lagoons Golf Club on the island’s eastern coast and the Prince Course at Princeville at Hanalei on the north shore.

The “Par 3 Kauai” package requires a three-night minimum stay and includes: accommodations in a choice of room categories at the hotel, ranging from Mountain/Garden View to Ocean Front; a mid-size rental car providing plenty of room for golf clubs; and one round of golf each at Poipu Bay, Kiele and the Prince courses, including green fees, shared cart, use of the driving range and other course amenities. These three courses have been ranked among the top golf courses in Hawaii and the United States by such publications as Golf Magazine, GolfWeek, Conde Nast Traveler and Golf Digest.

The “Par 3 Kauai” package rates are based on double occupancy, with the option of golf for either one person or two. Package rates start at $359 per night for two people in a Mountain/Garden View room with golf for one person, or $479 per night to include golf for two individuals. The three rounds of golf per person are non-transferable and must be used by one individual named on the package booking. The “Par 3 Kauai” package rates are valid through December 22, 2006 and are subject to applicable taxes. Additional nights are available for longer stays.

Poipu Bay Golf Course has been home to the prestigious season-end PGA Grand Slam of Golf since 1994, welcoming the world’s top players such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, Ernie Els and Retief Goosen. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the course’s 210 oceanfront acres meander along rugged coastline, featuring spectacular vistas, 85 bunkers, five water hazards and wildly varying trade winds. Poipu Bay is ranked by Golf Digest as one of “Hawaii’s Top 15 Golf Courses.”

The Kiele Course is part of the 36-hole Kauai Lagoons Golf Club. Master-minded by course designer Jack Nicklaus, Kiele’s wide ravines, magnificent ocean holes with menacing cliffs and 40 acres of tropical fresh water lagoons do their best to distract even the most disciplined of players. The Kiele Course is ranked #6 in Hawaii by Golf Digest and is also included on the publication’s 2005-2006 list of “America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses.”

The Prince Course, located at Princeville at Hanalei, is one of Hawaii’s most beautiful and challenging courses, encompassing 390 acres of rolling terrain, tropical jungles, gullies, streams and waterfalls. The masterpiece of Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the Prince is ranked by Golf Digest as Hawaii’s number one golf course and is the only course in the State of Hawaii to be recognized on the magazine’s 2005-2006 list of “America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses.”

The Kauai Beach Hotel & Resort is centrally located on a three-mile stretch of beach on Kauai’s eastern “Coconut Coast,” halfway to Princeville (to the north) and halfway to Poipu (to the south). The 350-room property, previously known as the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort, will become the Hilton Kauai Beach Resort late this summer upon completion of the resort’s $14 million renovation project. The property offers three restaurants, a boutique spa and fitness center, complete meeting and banquet facilities and a landscaped pool complex made up of four swimming pools surrounded by waterfalls and grottoes.
