Leupold GX golf rangefinders enhanced with additional features

BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Leupold takes precise distance measurement on golf courses to a new game-changing level with the addition of Prism Lock Technology and fog mode to its 2010 series of GX digital laser rangefinders.

When GX is in scan mode, Prism Lock makes an audible beep upon identifying a high-intensity return from flagsticks equipped with specialized prisms. More than 2,000 golf courses around the country now offer these prisms for exact distance measurement.

Fog mode enables GX to cut through mist and provide fast, accurate distance measurements.

"With Prism Lock Technology and fog mode, we continue to customize our GX rangefinders to the individual golfer's needs," said Andy York, Leupold's vice president of sales and marketing. "No other rangefinder on the market uses as many features to give golfers the most precise, personalized range on the course. Ultimately, GX is designed to be a tool that can help shave strokes and improve any golfer's game, whether you're a tournament pro or a casual player."

GX is the official rangefinder of the Professional Tour Caddies of America and the top laser rangefinder choice of PGA TOUR caddies. The GX series includes a GX-1 model, which offers tournament-legal line-of-sight measurement, and a GX-2 model loaded with advanced smart technology.

Both GX models feature PinHunter™ Laser Technology, which effectively filters out large background objects and zeroes in on the flag or pin for extremely precise and fast target acquisition. Golfers can select from seven aiming reticles, choosing the one that works best for the intended target and usage. Distance can be displayed in yards or meters.

The GX-2 rangefinder is the first to provide accurate ranging information matched to the slope of the shot, atmospheric conditions and a golfer's specific striking distance. Exclusive features of GX-2 include True Golf Range (TGR®) and Club Selector™.

TGR allows golfers to compensate for uphill shots that play long and downhill shots that play short. Calculated from the laser-measured line-of-sight distance, incline or decline, trajectory of the ball, current temperature and specific altitude, TGR displays the adjusted "plays like" range. For example, a golfer has a lie of 150 yards from the pin but the green sits six degrees above the ball. Using advanced TGR algorithms to automatically account for each factor, the GX-2 indicates the shot should be played as if it were 164 yards.

When activated, Club Selector factors in the golfer's specific striking distance and TGR to the target, automatically recommending the proper club for each shot. The user simply inputs his or her personal striking distance for three specific clubs and the GX-2 does the rest, even indicating when the distance falls between clubs.

Both GX models have 6x magnification and can accurately measure distances up to 750 yards. Maximum ranging distance to the pin is 400 yards. GX-1 and GX-2 rangefinders have a scan mode that allows users to sweep the landscape while continuously measuring distance.
Additional features include fully multi-coated lenses for a crystal-clear image, fold-down rubber eyecups and a fast-focus eyepiece with precision clicks. Each GX is weatherproof, weighs 6.8 ounces and measures 4 x 2.75 x 1.5 inches.

GX golf rangefinders come with a Cordura holster, battery, lanyard and complete instructions. The GX-1 has a black finish, while the GX-2 sports a black and silver finish. For more information, go to www.leupold.com/golf or call 1-800-LEUPOLD.
