The 2010 Rex Hospital Open Junior Invitational Golf Tournament presented by the Tarheel Golf Foundation is one of the premier junior golf tournaments in North Carolina. This year the tournament format has been expanded to include 36 holes of play on May 15-16, 2010. Players will compete on both the Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University and at the TPC Wakefield Plantation courses in Raleigh. The Lonnie Poole Golf Course is home to the NC State Wolfpack Golf Teams and is the qualifying site used by the PGA for open qualifying for the Rex Hospital Open on the Nationwide Tour. The TPC Wakefield Golf Course is the host site of the Nationwide Tour event.
The winning junior gofer will receive an exemption into the field of the Nationwide Tour event that is played May 20-23. "This is a great opportunity gfor a junior golfer to play alongside touring professionals in an event that is run by the PGA Tour." stated Bob Gerard, Tournament Director for the Tarheel Golf Foundation.
The Rex Hospital Open Junior Invitational supports the Rex Healthcare Foundation and all proceeds from the event go to the Foundation.
