ATLANTA -- Golf & Tennis Pro Shop, Inc. (GTPS) will open its fourth Atlanta-area PGA TOUR Superstore in Buckhead, Ga. in September 2006. The new 65,000 square foot store will be constructed within the former Home Depot Expo just off Piedmont Road, south of Lindberg Drive. The Buckhead store will be the third Superstore opened in the Atlanta area during 2006.
“Consumer response to our first three stores has been so great that we decided to move up our plans for additional Atlanta-area expansion and open a new store this fall,” said Bill Hamlin, chief executive officer of GTPS. “There are no other golf and tennis stores in the country that offer the variety of products and services we do. In addition, our customers tell us that they really appreciate that our main focus is to improve their golf or tennis game. We provide them with access to the newest technology and we maintain an inventory that enables us to fit each customer with the club or racquet that’s right for that individual.”
PGA TOUR Superstores carry the largest selection of golf equipment, apparel, shoes and golf-themed home décor offered in the Atlanta area. The Superstores provide golfers with an interactive, entertaining experience, and give them access to technology and services usually found in professional “Tour Vans” at tournament sites. Computerized swing simulators and launch monitors are in place to analyze a player’s swing speed, ball trajectory, launch angle and impact zone. Game improvement tools such as the SST PURE® Shaft Alignment System (PUREing) and the Balance-Certified — Golf’s Motion Balancing Adjustment System™ are available to adapt clubs to each individual’s needs. PGA of America and other teaching pros are on staff to provide lessons, adjust a swing and guide club fitting.
“PGA TOUR Superstore has been well-received because we provide expert assistance coupled with access to state-of-the-art technology and an extraordinary inventory of products,” says Hamlin. “Before we arrived on the golf scene, that kind of assistance and variety were only available to pro golfers on tour.”
PGA TOUR Superstore is also the only retailer that offers a broad selection for golf’s fastest growing segments of golfers, women and juniors. Left-handed golfers also have more club options at PGA TOUR Superstore.
“It’s very clear that the Superstore concept has been embraced by golfers,” said Leo McCullagh, vice president of marketing and retail licensing for the PGA TOUR. “We expect it to have a major impact on the growth of our sport. PGA TOUR Superstore is revolutionizing golf retailing.”
The new Buckhead location will provide Atlanta-area golfers with easy access to another PGA TOUR Superstore, as well as serve tennis and golf enthusiasts from other Georgia towns like Macon. According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Buckhead “is the shopping Mecca of the Southeast” and “forty percent of Buckhead's shoppers come from more than 100 miles away.
