Steven Moses captures victory at TGAA Tournament of Champions

WASHINGTON -- Building on its success as the premier Pro-Net Tour in the Mid-Atlantic, the Tournament Golf Association of America would like to congratulate Steven Moses for winning the tour's season-opening Tournament of Champions event presented by Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday.

Mr. Moses, a nine year tour member and the tour's Chief Operating Officer, won his seventh tournament overall and first major championship. He posted a winning score of NET EVEN PAR at The Pearl Golf Club in Calabash, NC to defeat the second place finisher by one stroke.

Through the use of real time scoring, and the on-course devices and leader boards, Steve said he knew where he stood throughout most of the round but didn't start watching the leader board until the last few holes. With a few holes to go, he knew that he was tied for the lead. Knowing that he could only control his game, he finished strong to post the only net even par score. As there were three groups remaining on the course, he watched the real time scoring leader boards in the clubhouse to see how the final groups played. As the final group completed their round, he knew that no one else could catch him. We caught up with him after the round and he had this to say…

"To win this event, a major on our tour, is an unbelievable accomplishment. I would first like to thank Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday for their support of this event and of the tour overall. Playing to a TGAA Handicap Value of 7, I always felt that my game was more suited for our majors. I have won six one-day events but never a major championship. Winning this title, playing against the best players on the TGAA Tour, means so much to me. At the beginning of each year, my goal is to win one of our four majors. I have been close many times but was never able to close it out and always came up short. This gives me a tremendous amount of confidence going into the rest of the year and in our remaining major championships. By winning this one event, I have accomplished all of my goals for the season. I now have to make new goals for the rest of the year. What makes this even more special was that this was the first event I won in which my wife was there. I couldn't be happier getting to share this with her".

For his victory, Steve took home the first place check of $1,200 and the prestigious TGAA Tournament of Champions trophy. In addition, he also won the coveted Winners Only Star, a two-year exemption into the Tournament of Champions and has qualified for the end of year AMD Cup (a team match play event similar to the Ryder/Presidents Cup).
