Golf Course Builders Association of America offers scholarships

LINCOLN, Neb. -- In an effort to expand and advance the industry, the Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA) Foundation continues to provide scholarships to college students during the 2009-2010 academic year.

This year, 43 scholarships will be awarded to college juniors and seniors at 23 universities across the nation. The $1,000 scholarships will benefit students who are pursuing a degree in landscape architecture, construction management, turf grass management, professional golf management or engineering. Along with the monetary award, scholarship winners will also receive a complementary two-year GCBAA membership. This membership allows students to network within the association and potentially creates job opportunities with other members.

"This scholarship program is yet another way the GCBAA Foundation is giving back to the industry," said Paul Foley, GCBAA executive director. "With the help of the foundation and its members who are matching the scholarships, we are able to reward those students who are the future of our industry."

This is the fourth consecutive year the GCBAA has offered scholarships to students at participating universities. Since the program's inception, 140 scholarships have been awarded.
