Champ Spikes capture the Johnnie Walker Championship

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- CHAMP Spikes continued its worldwide dominance by capturing the Johnnie Walker Championship in Scotland, a week after being the winner’s spike of choice at the US Open. CHAMP Spikes were worn by the first, second, and fourth place finishers at the Johnnie Walker Championship. The first and second place winners wore CHAMP Ceremc® spikes, while the 4th place finishers sported the Stinger™ spikes.

CHAMP Spikes/Mac Neill Engineering is the overwhelming spike brand of choice of the top players on the both the PGA and European Tours. CHAMP Spikes have been worn on the feet of six of the eleven winners of European tournaments in 2006. The Ceremc® spike can withstand the harsh and unpredictable elements of many European courses with its high abrasion and impact resistant ceramic ball that is fused to a hardened tool spike. The Ceremc® is the ultimate in metal spike technology performance as its components enable it to endure rough greens and volatile weather but still comfortable enough to be Green Friendly, minimizing its marks on the green.

“Coming off our win at the US Open, we could not be happier to be the winner’s spike of choice at the Johnnie Walker Championship,” said Harris MacNeill, President CHAMP Spikes. “The two wins, one in New York and one in Scotland, show CHAMP’s ability to craft winning, diverse spikes for challenging courses home and abroad.”

CHAMP Spikes are a player favorite and leader on the European Tour as nearly all of the top 20 players count on CHAMP Spikes, and a vast majority of women on the LPGA prefer CHAMP, showing the company’s ability to provide golfers with all types of shoes, all over the world, the traction they demand. Thirty-one of the top 50 players in the world consistently wear the CHAMP brand.

On the PGA Tour, the majority of top 20 players sport CHAMP Spikes including the last two major winners, the Masters and US Open. In fact, four of the top five finishers and six of the top ten at Winged Foot utilized CHAMP Spikes to help them maneuver their way through one of the toughest courses that featured some of the most challenging roughs and greens ever seen at a U.S. Open. CHAMP celebrates the success of being the number one brand in the world in conjunction with its 75th anniversary.

The most popular spike produced by CHAMP is the CHAMP Stinger™. With twice the durability of its nearest competitor, the distinctively black and yellow colored Stinger offers unparalleled traction through primary and secondary elements that provide gripping power, stability and support from the ground up. Recently, CHAMP developed the industry’s only hybrid spike, the Pro Stinger, worn by the champion at The U.S. Open. This spike provides professional golfers with the security of a metal spike the comfort and many of the course-friendly qualities of non-metal spikes.
