Wilson Golf receives high honors in Golf Digest 2010 Hot List

CHICAGO -- After recently announcing its 2010 line of premium golf equipment, Wilson Golf accepted two prestigious Golf Digest magazine Hot List awards which will be announced in the magazine's annual equipment review issue this February. The revolutionary Wilson Staff D-FY hybrid set received a gold award in the super-game improvement iron category for its half-steel, half-graphite shaft design. The Wilson Staff FG Tour irons won a silver award in the player iron category with four stars in the "performance" and "look/sound/feel" ratings.

Winner of the highest award (gold medal) in the super-game improvement category, the new Wilson Staff D-FY hybrid set is a fully integrated fusion of irons and hybrids. The D-FY hybrid set utilizes seamlessly fused FYbrid long-club technology, powerful hollow-core mid-range clubs and accurate perimeter-weighted scoring irons. A proprietary co-cured Half-and-Half™ shaft design delivers the speed and soft feel of graphite with the precision and consistency of steel at a remarkably low weight of only 76 grams.

"We designed and developed the D-FY hybrid set to tailor to the largest segment of golfers that play this game," said Bob Thurman, director of R&D. "Not only does the D-FY set utilize our FYbrid utility technology for more accuracy, the amazing breakthrough technology behind the half-graphite/half-steel shaft is the best of both worlds all in one set of irons."

Built upon a legacy of forged irons, the new Wilson Staff FG Tour irons, winner of the Hot List silver award, feature the most playable and forgiving forged cavity-back design that Wilson has ever produced. With minimally progressive offsets and thin top line, the tour-configured sole design promotes better turf interaction over a wide range of lies. Redistributed weight from the heel into the toe repositions the center of gravity toward the center of the club face and increases MOI (moment of inertia) for stability and a more solid feel. All of Wilson Staff's PGA TOUR professionals, including three-time Major winner Padraig Harrington, have put the FG Tour irons into tournament play. Notably, Wilson Staff TOUR professional Ricky Barnes played the prototype FG Tour irons en route to his runner-up finish at the 2009 U.S. Open Championship, setting a 36-hole U.S. Open scoring record and his own personal best performance in a PGA TOUR professional event.

"For 18 months we have play-tested these irons all over the world with our Tour staff," said Tim Clarke, general manager of Wilson Golf. "We are confident that we have designed the most playable players iron and we are pleased to accept this high award based on its performance with everyday golfers and TOUR players alike."

All Wilson Staff equipment introduced in 2010 meets the new USGA and R&A groove standards which went into effect Jan. 1, 2010, for Conditions of Competition for Elite (Tour) Play. Individual news releases for each of the 2010 products are available on the Wilson Staff Web site at

Wilson Golf has participated in every single PGA Merchandise Show in the show's 56 year history and will do so again at the 2010 show in Orlando, Fla. Wilson Golf will showcase the D-FY and FG Tour irons during the Jan. 27 Demo Day at Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Winter Garden, Fla. as well as at the Orange County Convention Center booth W202B Jan. 28-30.

The suggested list price for the Wilson Staff D-FY iron set is $999.99 and includes a 19.5 degree FYbrid, 4H, 5-PW. Likewise, the suggested list price for Wilson Staff FG Tour irons is $999.99 and includes a 3I-PW.
