ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – Nov. 4, 2004 – The Royal & Ancient Golf Club has set its ticket prices for the 2005 Open Championship, which will be played July 14-17 on the Old Course in St. Andrews.
Daily tickets range in price from about $9 for the first practice day to $83 for the third or fourth rounds. For senior citizens, prices range from $5.50 to $64 and for youths, from $5 to $27.50.
Spectators purchasing weekly tickets before Jan. 31, 2005, will pay $240 for eight days' worth of admissions, a discount of almost half over the regular daily admission fees. Between Feb. 1 and April 30, those tickets will sell for $266, and after May 1, they will be $295.
Daily tickets for adults will go for $9.20 for the Sunday before tournament week, $37 for Monday of tournament week, $46 for admission on Tuesday or Wednesday, $74 for Thursday or Friday, and $83 for Saturday or Sunday. All dollar figures are converted from British pounds.
Open Championship officials also are offering a variety of ticket packages for seniors and youths, as well as parking. The event also will continue its policy of admitting children under the age of 16 for free. Since its introduction in 1997, almost 200,000 youngsters have enjoyed free access to this major championship.
