Pound Ridge Golf Club in New York earns ranking as a best from Golf Digest

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Pound Ridge Golf Club in New York's Westchester County has been named by Golf Digest as one of America's Best New Courses of 2009 in the prestigious annual review published in the January 2010 issue. The heralded high-end daily fee course designed by Pete Dye is the only golf course east of Michigan honored as one of the 10 selected for the Public Courses category. Pound Ridge Golf Club was ranked fourth.

Of the 10 celebrated new public access courses, seven were located at resort destinations. The Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Resort in Indiana was awarded first place. Pound Ridge Golf Club, Pete Dye's only design in the Northeast, completed its first full year of operation in 2009.

"All of us at Pound Ridge Golf Club appreciate that Golf Digest has recognized our Pete Dye course as one of the very best new designs in the country," said owner Ken Wang. "We congratulate Pete on his achievement at French Lick. This year's ratings are a testament to the genius of Pete Dye, and we are gratified to be a part of his family. Our rating is a distinction that validates the exceptional commitment that Pete gave us when he agreed to craft Pound Ridge. My goal in bringing Pete into the project was to create a golf course for the ages, and I believe our high ranking validates that we have created something very significant at Pound Ridge," Wang added.

Golf Digest's annual survey of America's Best New Courses is conducted by a panel of nearly 950 official golf raters who rate courses based on shot values, design variety, resistance to scoring, memorable impact and aesthetics.
