Hank Haney IJGA announces its early college player signings

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy (Hank Haney IJGA) is proud to announce its college signings for the early signing period - Richard Werenski (Georgia Tech) and Stephanie Meadow (University of Alabama).

Werenski, a native of South Hadley, MA, has spent the last two years at Hank Haney IJGA. He has accepted a full scholarship to play golf at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA. Werenski will begin in January 2010. The Yellow Jackets are coached by Bruce Heppler, who is in his 14th year. Heppler has guided the Yellow Jackets to six top-five NCAA finishes in the last 12 years, including three runner-up finishes.

During his time at Hank Haney IJGA, Werenski has had an impressive junior golf career with nine top-10 finishes and 14 rounds in the 60's just this year. He qualified for the U.S. Amateur in August and finished tied for 5th place at the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Footjoy Invitational in June. In late October, Werenski was named to the Rolex Junior All-American Team by Rolex and the AJGA.

Meadow, a native of Antrim, Ireland, has been a student at Hank Haney IJGA for four years. She has accepted a full golf scholarship to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. Meadow will begin her college career in the Fall of 2010. The Crimson Tide are coached by Mic Potter in his 5th year. During his tenure, Potter has led the Crimson Tide to its second NCAA Championship appearance in program history in his very first year at Alabama and repeated the feat in 2007, 2008 and 2009, reaffirming his status as one of the prominent coaches in women's collegiate golf

Ranked as the #7 junior golfer in the world, Meadow has had an impressive career including numerous wins with the AJGA and International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT). This year, she was named GolfWeek Junior Golfer of the Week twice, including November 9th following her 2nd victory at the GolfWeek Junior Invitational and on September 21st for her International Junior Golf Tour win at ChampionsGate in Orlando, FL. Meadow had 3 wins on the IJGT last year and qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur, U.S. Junior Girl's, and Ladies Irish Open this year. She won the AJGA Cliff's Championship in April, placed 2nd at the AJGA Girl's Championship in September, and finished tied for 13th at AJGA's final event of the year, The PING Invitational. Meadow was also named to the Rolex Junior All-American Team by Rolex and the AJGA.

To celebrate the achievements of Richard Werenski and Stephanie Meadow, Hank Haney IJGA held a "College Signing Ceremony" for the two students on Saturday, November 14th as part of the festivities for the 2nd Annual Hank Haney Invitational Presented by BMW, held at Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head Island, SC.
