Tim McDonald: Thank God PGA Tour doesn't have a Mark Cuban

I'm sure glad the PGA Tour doesn't have a Mark Cuban. Professional golf may be a sellout to the increasing corporate influence that is gulping down all of our society, but at least it doesn't have loud-mouthed owners trying to turn the attention on themselves.

I started out pulling hard for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals, but by the fourth or fifth game, I completely changed allegiance, all because of Cuban, the Mavericks' obnoxious owner. I tried to ignore him for a long time because I liked the Mavericks so much more than the Heat, though Dwayne Wade was doing his part to reel me in.

Complaining about the officiating is the surest sign of weakness, and Cuban blathered on and on about how his team was getting beat by the officials. It's nonsense, of course; games are rarely decided by the officials.

Cuban is the worst kind of pro franchise owner. He made his fortune being involved in Internet companies, and now he's an expert on NBA officiating? He whined about an alleged backcourt violation, which turned out to be completely wrong. Fining him $250,000 doesn't hurt him. They should tie him up and gag him.

He's the quintessential, loud-mouthed, arrogant corporate jerk. Cuban didn't cost his team the title, but I'll bet he cost them a lot of fans.
