WASHINGTON -- Building on its success as the premier Pro-Net Tour in the Mid-Atlantic, the Tournament Golf Association of America (TGAA) is proud to announce Dan Riley as their 2009 Players Cup Champion.
Congratulations to Mr. Dan Riley who was named the TGAA Tour Players Cup Champion (previously Player of the Year) as he earned the most points throughout the 2009 season. Dan earned 10,868 points and defeated our second place finisher (Eric Collier) who had 9,442. This was a tight race through the end of the season and could have gone a number of ways with almost a half-dozen players at one time or another leading the Players Cup point list.
Heading into the TGAA Tour Championship, there were four players that had the opportunity to win the TGAA Players Cup with a victory at the Tour Championship. Although each of these players participated in the TGAA Tour Championship none earned enough points to overtake Dan in the season long title.
At the announcement of the Players Cup Champion, Dan said that winning the Players Cup was his goal at the start of the season and was very proud that he was able to achieve his goal. Rounding out the Top 5 were: 2nd - Eric Collier (9,442); 3rd - Paul Hunt (8,527 and Winner of Old Dominion Invitational); 4th - Bill Snider (8,145 and Winner of TGAA Tour Championship) and 5th - Mike Neely (7,497 and Winner of TGAA Players Championship). Each earned a bonus payout from the total Players Cup purse.
