Golf Industry Show to debut new schedule this year in San Diego

The 2010 GCSAA Education Conference and the Golf Industry Show, Feb. 8-12 in San Diego, will feature a new Monday through Friday schedule, with education events on Monday, Tuesday and Friday only, and the trade show on Wednesday and Thursday. GCSAA members can register now on the conference Web site; nonmember registration opens Oct. 29.

In addition to a revised schedule, the week also includes new education, activities and networking opportunities for every member of the golf facility management team.

Visit the GCSAA Education Conference Web site to learn more about the annual tournament and host courses, and to plan your week at the largest event in golf course management. You'll find details on nearly 100 GCSAA seminars, including 19 new topics; education tracks specifically for employers, assistants and those interested in economic solutions; and more education sessions and forums.

The Golf Industry Show site includes details on exhibitors and navigating the show floor, as well as special activities and highlights such as the GIS service project, the Design and Construction Information Center, the Outdoor Recreation Center and the Road to Riche$.

You'll also learn more about networking events, including the new Show Floor Happy Hour, 4-6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 11, and the General Sessions to be held Wednesday and Thursday before the trade show opens. Brian Little, Ph.D., distinguished research professor emeritus at Carleton College, will kick off the first General Session with "Multiple Personalities in the World of Golf: Strange Creatures and True Characters;" while the Feb. 11 session will feature Chris Gardner, author of the autobiography "The Pursuit of Happyness" and owner and CEO of the brokerage firm Gardner Rich LLC., and his presentation "Start Where You Are."

The Golf Industry Show is designed for the owners/operators of golf facilities and the professional members of the golf course and club management industries. The event combines education, networking and solutions for golf course superintendents, owners, operators, club managers, chief operating officers, architects and builders. It is presented by GCSAA, National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) and Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), along with participating partners Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA), American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) and the National Golf Foundation (NGF). The USGA will join the Golf Industry Show beginning in 2010 as a participating partner.
