Bob Hope Classic announces selection of its "Classic Girls"

LA QUINTA, Calif. -- The Bob Hope Classic has selected its "Classic Girls" for the 2010 PGA TOUR event to be held Jan. 18-24. Serving as Classic Girls for the 51st tournament will be Colie Cullen, 22, of Coto de Caza, Calif., Heather Hastings-Gorski, 27, of Palm Springs, and Kelsey Peterson, 22, of Huntington Beach, Calif.

The Classic Girls serve as goodwill ambassadors for the Bob Hope Classic. They will be visible on the courses throughout the tournament and they will attend all of the Classic's special events and promotions prior to and throughout tournament week.

Cullen, who will wear the name "Bob" on her shirt, is a former Rancho Mirage resident and alumna of Palm Desert High School. She is serving her second stint as a Classic Girl. She is an honors student in Visual Communications in her final year at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. She has received invitations from the Young National Leaders Conference and the Phi Kappa Theta Honor Society. Cullen enjoys attending concerts, museums, hitting golf balls at the driving range and spending time with her family and friends.

Another second-time Classic Girl, Hastings-Gorski attended Palm Springs High School and went on to receive her B.A. in Education and Communications, with a minor in Early Childhood Studies, at the University of California, San Diego. She serves as vice president of Administration at First School of the Desert Preschool/Child Care Centers throughout the Coachella Valley, her family's business for 21 years. Hastings-Gorski has added her enthusiasm and creativity to make First School of the Desert a place "Where Learning is Fun!" She says the most important part of her life is the friendship and memories she shares with her family.

Peterson, who will also be serving her second year as a Classic Girl, is in her final year of Art studies at California State University, Long Beach. She is once again following in the footsteps of her mother, who served as "Classic" in 1969. Peterson works at a small bakery where she uses her artistic ability in product design. Spending time with family and friends and her passion for music, dancing and singing is her favorite leisure activity. Her sense of humor makes people laugh and puts them at ease.

The "Classic Girls" have been a feature of the tournament for 51 years. Photos of all the Classic Girls may be viewed at www.bobhopeclassic.com.

The Bob Hope Classic also is seeking young women to serve as 2010 Classic Ambassadors. The Classic Ambassadors greet guests and serve as information sources at each Classic event while also providing extra assistance at various special events.

Requirements to serve as Classic Ambassadors include being 21 years of age, being well-spoken, involved in the community and having great "customer service" skills. Serving as a Classic Ambassador affords the individual an opportunity to participate in an iconic Coachella Valley charity event, a highlight on any resume, and to be outfitted by Adidas.

Candidates interested in being a 2010 Classic Ambassador should contact Abby Savich-Massey at 760-346-8184, ext. 222, or at abby@bhcc.com by Friday, Nov. 6.

The Classic has taken its fan-friendly experience to a new level. Its new Web site, www.bobhopeclassic.com, is one of many platforms by which fans can more easily gain information about, and purchase tickets for, the 2010 Classic.

Along with the new Web site, fans can follow pre-tournament and tournament-week action on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/BobHopeClassic) and on Twitter (@bobhopeclassic). There, fans can not only catch up on Classic news and see exclusive celebrity photos and quotes from the always-popular Pro-Am, but enter a variety of contests for the chance to win Bob Hope Classic tickets and other tournament prizes. From a haiku contest to photo caption contests to trivia, fans will have a multitude of chances to win.

Pat Perez is defending champion of the $5 million Classic. The host course in 2010 will be the Palmer Private at PGA West, which joined the Classic rotation in 1988. Other courses in play include La Quinta Country Club, a Classic course since 1965, SilverRock Resort, which debuted in 2008, and the Nicklaus Private Course at PGA West, which returns to the rotation for the second consecutive year.

In 50 years, the Classic has donated more than $47 million to charities throughout the Coachella Valley. For more information, go to www.bobhopeclassic.com or call 1.888.MRBHOPE (672.4673).
