The EPA is demanding an immediate cancellation of methyl bromide (MeBr) use on golf courses and has rejected a registrant proposal for a cancellation timetable to allow sufficient time for golf facilities to adjust operations or implement alternatives.
MeBr is an important soil fumigant for the establishment of newly constructed golf courses, but even more for course renovations to change from an existing turfgrass to an improved turfgrass species or cultivar.
GCSAA urges member superintendents to contact their Congressional representatives to encourage the EPA to accept the registrants' proposal for orderly cancellation.
