Phil Schmitt has qualified for PGA Tour's '10 Zurich Classic

SPRINGFIELD, La. -- Stirling Properties, the management firm for Carter Plantation Golf Course Development, announces that Phil Schmitt, General Manager, has qualified for the PGA Tour's Zurich Classic to be held in April 2010 in New Orleans.

Phil Schmitt won the 2009 Gulf States PGA Section Championship at the Country Club of Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi, earlier this month. Only the top players in the Section compete in this prestigious event. The golf tournament was 54 holes (3 rounds) and Mr. Schmitt scored 71, 72, and 71 respectively for a total of 214 or 2 under par. This Championship qualifies Mr. Schmitt to play in the Zurich Classic.

"It is quite an honor to have won the Gulf States Section championship," said Phil Schmitt, General Manager of Carter Plantation. "The win is extra special as it allows me to qualify to play in the 2010 Zurich Classic. This will be my fourth time competing in the Classic and I am looking forward to representing Carter Plantation and The Gulf States Section in the event," said Schmitt.

Carter Plantation is a David Toms design and residential resort. The development features an 18 hole championship golf course, pro shop, grill, and event Pavilion to accommodate dining, meeting, and banquet events.

Carter Plantation offers a full day of championship golf in a country club atmosphere. The Carter Plantation golf course is open to the public and operated with the player in mind. New greens fees are: weekdays $55, weekends $65, weekdays twilight $45, and weekends twilight $49.
