LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Brown Cullen NPS is celebrating a 30 year anniversary and surviving the 2009 business year. To celebrate a 30 year anniversary of providing custom course accessories, new owners of the Brown Cullen Company decided to update their web site - www.bc-nps.com - by offering photos of work produced over the past 30 years. Web design work was provided through an internship program with the University of Louisville and communications graduate student Nisha Sridhar.
Brown Cullen retired and sold the company to NPS development in 2007. The company initially started by producing wooden tee plaques with wooden directional plaques in 1979. Customers wanted a product that was longer lasting than wood but did not want plastic or thin department of transportation type aluminum and found painted steel to be problematic due to rust.
Brown Cullen became an industry leader by designing custom cast bronze and aluminum plaques that replaced wooden accessory plaques on golf courses. Brown's motto was "Less is better". As a PGA pro, he offered an understanding of the game combined with a custom design solution to create unique course accessories made out of bronze and aluminum with textured backgrounds. The web site update includes photos of past work from projects completed over the past 30 years. As the number of new golf course projects slows, the new owners of Brown Cullen NPS are working with past customers to offer refurbishment services.
Many course managers are pleased to know the new owners have old files and casting molds to support course refurbishment work and a knowledge base to support new design options. An early customer with wood tee number plaques and posts saw an old photo of their work from Brown Cullen NPS and asked for a quote to replace the original wood directional plaques and posts, while also wanting to refurbish the cast bronze directional work. Future web site plans include an ecommerce platform that will offer customers an opportunity to reorder / order new items at competitive rates.
