The Club Managers Association of America announced this week that it will reschedule its 2009 National Club Championship for the fall of 2010.
"In light of the recent downward trend in spending for most organizations, we feel it is prudent to postpone this year's event and reschedule it for next year," according to tournament director Seth Gregg, COO of the Club Foundation. "Doing so will relieve any financial burden placed on clubs, their members as participants and CMAA members during a time when everyone is seeking to lower expenditures."
CMAA's national championship was most recently sponsored by Cadillac. As General Motors heads into its restructuring process, a postponement of the event will offer the best possible outcome for the title sponsor's involvement moving forward, Gregg said.
CMAA's tournament has included more than 600 local club champions from around the country vying for the title of National Club Champion at facilities including Kiawah Island Resort, Pinehurst, the Woodlands, TPC Sawgrass and others.
The 2010 event will include three divisions - champion, senior and women's -- and will offer 54 holes of tournament golf played at scratch over three days. Several social events will offer networking opportunities to all participants, sponsors and guests.
