LOS ANGELES (June 1, 2006) -- Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital announced today that the 17th Annual Paul and Berniece Harbers Runyan Memorial Golf Classic raised a record breaking $150,000 to benefit the Hospital's Pediatric Cast Clinic. The event, held at the Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, honored the contributions of golf legend Paul Runyan, and his wife Berniece Harbers Runyan, long-time supporters of Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital. This year's special honoree was legendary golfer Raymond Floyd.
About the Pediatric Cast Clinic: Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital's Pediatric Cast Clinic is the largest of the 20 clinics offered at Orthopaedic's Outpatient Medical Center. As many as 200 children a day are seen each time the Cast Clinic is held, and the numbers are escalating dramatically. In 2005, more than 16,000 children's visits were made to this clinic -- an increase of 12% from the 13,027 visits made in 2004.
Over the past two years, support from the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation for this Cast Clinic has totaled more than $1,125,000. Serving the growing number of children in need is only possible through the generous contributions of donors.
