DEARBORN, Mich. -- Mark Twain once said that, "golf is a good walk spoiled." Most golfers would agree with this sentiment at some point. But, on this occasion, the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter (the Friends) promise a good time on the links and a chance to help a good cause. On Monday, June 12, 2006, the Friends invite you to the 13th Annual Critter Invitational golf outing, which will benefit the animals that seek safe haven at the Dearborn Animal Shelter.
The event will take place at the Dearborn Country Club and feature Honorary Chairman & Emcee Dan Miller, FOX2's sports director and voice of the Detroit Lions on AM 1270. There will also be an appearance by Detroit Lions fullback Cory Schlesinger. Event co-chairs are 19th District Court Judge William Hultgren and Deputy Court Administrator Julie Pucci.
The Critter Invitational will start at noon with a shotgun start followed by a dinner buffet at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $225 each and include a round of scramble format golf and dinner. Non-golfers can still support the animals by purchasing tickets to the dinner for $75 each. Both ticket packages include admittance to the silent and live auctions. Auction highlights include: a chance to enjoy a Lions game from the broadcasting booth with Dan Miller and Jim Brandstatter, and VIP sideline passes to attend a pre-game Lions warm-up. Both items were generously donated by longtime shelter supporters, the Detroit Lions.
