Members of the California Golf Course Superintendents Association made a lasting impression by distributing free ball mark repair tools at a recent California PGA Play Golf America Day at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento, Calif.
The event attracted more than 1200 golf enthusiasts who received free lessons from PGA and LPGA pros, a free golf club from Wilson Golf, and nine holes of complimentary golf on the Arcade Creek Golf Course. The day supported the nationwide Play Golf America Initiative for first-time golfers and former players wanting to return to the sport.
Golf course superintendent Sam Samuelson, CGCS, of Haggin Oaks Golf Complex and GCSANC Affiliate Board Member John Holmquist, Horizon Turf, demonstrated proper ball mark repair techniques in a booth that welcomed golfers.
An additional ball mark repair demonstration took place on the practice putting green. Accompanied by handy instructions, the repair tools were also distributed to golfers teeing off on the Arcade Creek course. The tools distributed at Play Golf America Day were provided courtesy of the GCSA of Northern California.
