HOUSTON -- LPGA Tour players are starting to feel the pressure of being in top 120 on the LPGA Official Money List as the season winds down to the LPGA Tour Championship. The first 120 players on the money list after the completion of the 2009 Mizuno Classic on Sunday, November 8, qualify to play for the crown at the LPGA Tour Championship.
As of Monday, August 17, leading the LPGA Official Money List is American Cristie Kerr with over $1.3 million earned so far this year. Following Kerr on the money list are South Koreans Jiyai Shin and In-Kyung Kim. In fourth place is Japanese Ai Miyazato, followed by Taiwan native Yani Tseng. American Paula Creamer is secure in sixth place followed by U.S. Women's Open winner Eun-Hee Ji. Top-ranked Lorena Ochoa is holding on to seventh place while Australian Karrie Webb jumped to eighth place after her second place finish at the RICOH Woman's British Open. Rounding out the tenth spot is Swede Suzann Pettersen who has finished in second place twice so far in 2009.
On the bubble in 119th place is South Korean Grace Park followed by Paraguayan Julieta Granada. South African Ashleigh Simon is right in front of American Diana D'Alessio who is in 122nd place.
It has been over 20 years since the LPGA has hosted a full-field event in the greater Houston area, and not only has the LPGA returned, they have returned with their season finale which could determine who takes home the top spot on the 2009 LPGA Official Money List.
