The Tarheel Golf Foundation announced that the new Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC will be the host course for the inaugural Wake County Junior Championship. The event will be held December 12-13, 2009 and is open to junior golfers ages 18 & under. Entries are now open and are limited to the first 90 entrants.
The Tarheel Golf Foundation is based in Raleigh North Carolina and serves a membership of over 500 junior golfers. Its purpose is to provide nationally ranked golf tournaments for its members that seek to earn college golf scholarships. The Tarheel Junior Golf Tour season runs September through May with all events within one hour's drive of Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
The Lonnie Poole Golf Course at NC state University in Raleigh,NC is a newly opened Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course. The course is home to the 2009 NCAA Individual Champion, Matt Hill, and the top 20-ranked NCAA Division I Men's Wolfpack Golf Team, The Lady Wolfpack golf team, the PGA accredited Professional Golf Management Program at NC State University and the top ranked turf grass management program in the country.
