Tiger Woods has hit a lot of great shots in his career, and the 8-iron he hit on the 16th at Firestone Country Club's South Course on Sunday to win the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational is right up there with the best of them.

After laying up on the 670-yard "Monster" hole to 182 yards, Woods, trailing Padraig Harrington by a shot at the time, did the unthinkable, even for him. He hit an 8-iron high into the sky over a pond and onto a sliver of green and managed to spin it within a few inches of the hole for a tap-in birdie. Yep, that's right, 8-iron.

What really made the shot so incredible, though, is the fact that player after player this week couldn't stop sand wedges on that green, and Woods darn near holed his 8-iron from that distance.

Harrington, meanwhile was faced with an even tougher shot from the rough just above a fairway bunker. He missed the green, and faced with an impossible up-and-down, also did the unthinkable when he pitched it back through the green and into the water.

The unfortunate aspect of this turning point was Harrington wound up making a triple bogey in what became a four-shot swing. Tournament over. All the drama was sucked out. What had been supremely entertaining up to that point came crashing to a halt. Instantly, a million viewers probably tuned out.

Tiger has now won the event at Firestone for the seventh time, the most ever in any one event. And it's his 70th career PGA Tour win. Wow.

So for the fourth time this year, Woods has won the tournament he played in right before a major. So far, he's gone 0-for-3 this year. This week, it's the PGA Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club.

I like his chances of going 1-for-4. Who wouldn't?
