Nov. 3, 2004 – This season, when a golfer looks for his "driver," he just might be looking for the delivery person from Gear-To-Go driving up to his hotel door with a "mix-and-match" dream set of rental clubs.
With the introduction of Gear-To-Go's revolutionary new Demo-Rental service, golfers can now travel to play in beautiful resort areas without the hassles associated with carrying their own clubs through airport security systems or shipping them at great expense. Nor do they have to endure the limitations of renting an over-used, single-manufacturer set of clubs from each individual golf course they intend to play.
Gear-To-Go has already started delivering clubs to golfers vacationing in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Those who reserved their equipment online will now be able to play with the clubs of their choice on any--or all--of the regional courses for as long a rental period as they choose. Sign-up is now open at www.gear-to-go.com to all golf enthusiasts, but Gear-To-Go recommends a three-day advance reservation in order to get their top choice in clubs for business or vacation play. Renting a standard set of clubs from Gear-To-Go will average only $33/day for a full three-day rental, and $25 per day thereafter.
Gear-To-Go enables golfers to rent the best and newest golf equipment available. Among the choices of clubs in each category are the top two most popular selections on the market today. Golfers are not limited to one manufacturer, but can pick from many to fill out a 14-club bag.
"Gear-To-Go is all about convenience, quality and choice," said Bob Klingensmith, founder and CEO of Gear-To-Go. "We are erasing the headaches of golf travel since 9/11. No more airport security quagmires with clubs. We let golfers pick from the 'best-of-the-best' clubs available today so they can improve their game. And we make it so easy and affordable, that it is a 'no-brainer.' We've been very excited by the early interest in Gear-To-Go and anticipate steady growth by golfers fitting our service into their travel plans."
To avail themselves of the Gear-To-Go service, customers simply go to the company's convenient website at www.gear-to-go.com, provide their itinerary, select their choice of clubs and check out. Their golf club rental sets will then be ready for either pick-up or delivery when they arrive in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Gear-To-Go clients may either pick up their rental clubs at the company's convenient location adjacent to Sky Harbor Airport or one of seven regional Van's Golf Shops, or have the clubs delivered to their hotel or resort for a $10-fee. Delivery is free for a foursome or more at the same delivery location.
For the convenience of the golfer, Gear-To-Go has aligned with a number of major partners who will be promoting the service to their customers. America West Airlines, Avis and Budget Rental Cars, Super Shuttle, Van's Golf Shops and The Scottsdale Visitors and Convention Bureau are among the first to tee-up with the company. Avis Rent A Car and Budget Rent A Car will offer an exclusive Gear-To-Go Collectable Golf Course Locator Map at the counter-the first of its kind-- at all Phoenix Avis and Budget rental locations as well as providing a free sleeve of Maxfli "Noodle" golf balls to rental customers who also rent from Gear-To-Go.
Regional hotels and resorts that arrange Gear-To-Go club rentals for guests include The Resort Suites of Scottsdale, The Hyatt Regency, Scottsdale; The Royal Palms; The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess; The Boulders; The Arizona Biltmore; The Gainey Suites Hotel; The Sunburst Resort; The Millennium Resort; Chaparral Suites; The Sanctuary; Wyndham Buttes and others. Gear-To-Go also provides group services to meeting and convention planners who wish to book Demo-Rental equipment for their clients. Details are on the Gear-To-Go website.
Local Arizona golfers wishing to avail themselves of the Gear-To-Go service can also test the game's latest equipment under actual course conditions before making purchase choices. The company plans to expand its one-of-a-kind Demo-Rental service to golf-centric regions of Florida, Nevada and California in 2005.
