AUSTIN, Texas -- The votes are in, and the readers of Conde Nast Traveler have placed Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas, as #39 in the magazine’s 2006 list of the Top 100 Golf Resorts in the world. Subscribers to the magazine were asked to evaluate resorts they had visited within the last three years from a list of 323 golf resorts to choose from in the Caribbean and the Atlantic, North and Central America, Ireland and Scotland.
All golf resorts were rated on six criteria: Course Design, Speed of Play, Accommodations, Service, Food & Dining, and Facilities. Barton Creek Resort & Spa received an overall score of 84.3; the overall score breakdown was 20% course design, 10% speed of play, 17.5% accommodations, 17.5% service, 17.5% Food & Dining, and 17.5% other facilities.
Barton Creek Resort & Spa has the distinct honor of being one of only five resorts in the world to receive “The Best in Course Design” honor with a score of 100. Other resorts in this category include the American Club in Kohler, Washington, the Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs, Michigan, the Royal Golf Hotel in Dornoch, Scotland, and the Waterville House in County Kerry, Ireland.
