TGAA Tour announces successful first half to their '09 season

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Building on its success as the premier Pro-Net Tour in the Mid-Atlantic, the Tournament Golf Association of America (TGAA) is proud to announce a successful first half to its 2009 season. Through nineteen events, there were fourteen different winners, one of whom is a first year tour player. The average winning scores were three below par NET and 68% of the wins were by golfers with handicaps greater than 10. The use of tournament scores only in generating the TGAA Tour Handicap "Value" (patent pending) is what makes the tour so competitive and consistent. Adherence to the USGA Rules of Golf and overseen by certified tournament directors ensures that the entire field is protected.

According to Dennis Baca, President and CEO of the TGAA Tour - "we have completed nineteen events in 2009, including our Tournament of Champions and, most recently, our second major of the season the TGAA Players Championship and have averaged 37 players per event. Compared to last year, we have seen an increase of 6.4% in the number of rounds played thus far. This is significant, as the National Golf Foundation just reported that rounds played for the Mid/South Atlantic are down 5% from this time last year. We acquired eGolfScore as our real-time scoring partner (editor's note: the TGAA Tour is the only Pro-Net mini-tour to offer real time scoring) and adds to the overall enjoyment and excitement of tournament golf, as it creates the same experience that a PGA, LPGA, Nationwide or Champions Tour player feels when they are the leader in the clubhouse, waiting patiently and excitedly as the players behind them complete their rounds." Simply put, it allows them to "Experience the Dream!"

Steve Moses, the tour's Chief Operating Officer, discusses the schedule. "For 2009, we will have thirty-four (34) events on the schedule. All of our events are scheduled on weekends to accommodate our members' careers. With the economy taking a downturn, it is important that we minimize the cost to the TGAA Tour player while maximizing the experience. Like everyone else, we're keeping a watchful eye on economic conditions, while at the same time positioning the TGAA as the premier Pro-Net Tour in the country. TGAA promotes carpooling and other energy saving programs and our players have responded accordingly. This allows our players to be more environmentally responsible…a TGAA core business value."

Moses continues…"Throughout the past thirteen years, we have seen many tours come and go throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Many of them have attempted to replicate our business model. There are several factors that have placed us head and shoulders above them all. The most important is the quality service to our members and their guests…that along with abiding by a set of standards that are neither subjective nor arbitrary. We include the players through independent Handicap and Players Committees. Everything we do can be statistically proven and has the supporting data and rationale consistent with the governing bodies of this game we love".
