Single Figure Golfer (SFG) has provisionally confirmed a number of professionals who will play in the final of the SFG Challenge Tour on the TwentyTen course at Celtic Manor on October 27th - 28th.
The 2009 SFG Challenge Tour, sponsored by Srixon, provides an opportunity for golfers with a handicap of under 10 the chance to qualify to compete in a two-day tea event against former Ryder and Solheim Cup players at next year's Ryder Cup course, Celtic Manor.
Paul Way, Steve Richardson, Gordon Brand Junior, Philip Walton and Alison Nicholas who appeared in last year's SFG final will attend along with Peter Baker, Gordon Brand Senior and Roger Chapman with two more places to be confirmed.
"I'm extremely pleased with the way my team is shaping up, I feel we have the right mixture of flair, experience and personality" commented Jeremy Robinson, former Walker Cup player and captain of the Professional team.
The amateur team captained by Peter McEvoy (former successful Walker Cup captain), is still be decided as successful performers at 40 venues on the SFG Challenge Tour will earn qualification through to 'SFG Qualifying School'.
SFG Qualifying school sees up to 80 amateurs competing the day before the grand final at Celtic Manor for one of 10 spots on McEvoy's 'Team SFG' to take on the Ryder Cup stars over the following two days.
