MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Kodak Challenge hole #14 was the 4th toughest overall hole this week at the St. Jude Classic at TPC Southwind in Memphis, TN. The venerable par 3 loosened its grip on the field Sunday, as players took advantage of supreme playing conditions. Players with birdies on #14 included highly-ranked Kodak Challengers, John Merrick, Brett Quigley and Nathan Green. Camilo Villegas also birdied and was the only golfer to birdie #14 more than once the entire tournament, with deuces on Thursday and Sunday.
Opening play of the St. Jude Classic on Thursday witnessed the busiest day of the season atop the Kodak Challenge leaderboard. Steve Lowery briefly joined Chris DiMarco in first place with a birdie during the morning round on Thursday. Just hours later, DiMarco regained sole possession of first place with a birdie to take his Kodak Challenge lead to 8-under-par. Friday and Saturday rounds on the Kodak Challenge hole #14 didn't provide the pros any breaks, as the average score was actually over par. Despite the degree of difficulty, Jason Dufner and Michael Letzig both birdied to move up the Kodak Challenge leaderboard. St. Jude Classic winner, Brian Gay played #14 at even par through the week and is among a group of pros tied for 5th in the Kodak Challenge.
The Kodak Challenge resumes on June 25 at the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, CT.
