NORTON, Mass. -- The sights, sounds and emotions of the seventh-annual Deutsche Bank Championship promise to send golf fans into seventh heaven. Fans are so close to the action at TPC Boston that they can feel the passion behind a Tiger Woods fist pump, the pageantry of Phil Mickelson's short game and the pulsating intensity of the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedExCup.
Tickets for the 2009 Championship, Sept. 1-7 at TPC Boston, go on sale for two weeks only or until sold out beginning Friday, June 19, when golf fans can reserve the most up-close and personal view of the PGA TOUR's top 100 players.
Tickets will be available online at www.dbchampionship.com, by telephone at 877-TIX-4DBC or in person at any local Stop & Shop grocery store from June 19-July 2. Ten percent of the proceeds from all tickets purchased at Stop & Shop will go to the Stop & Shop/Giant Family Foundation, a Founders Club partner of the Championship.
Fans can also win tickets to the Championship before they go on sale by staying tuned to the Championship's Facebook 'Wall' page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Deutsche-Bank-Championship/123417575083. To win tickets, become a "Fan" of the Deutsche Bank Championship and post "I want Deutsche Bank Championship tickets!" on June 18 at 12 p.m. (ET). The first three people to post will each win two MasterCard Club tickets to the 2009 Deutsche Bank Championship. Fans also can follow the Championship on Twitter at http://twitter.com/dbchampionship.
In addition, Tuesday, Sept. 1 will be designated Military Appreciation Day - all active-duty U.S. military personnel, U.S. military retirees and other veterans will be allowed complimentary grounds admission (with their military ID or proof of military service) for the Deutsche Bank Championship Red Sox Legends & Friends Pro-Am and professional practice rounds on Sept. 1. Military can call the main ticket line at 877-TIX-4DBC or visit www.dbchampionship.com to learn more about this program.
New England's favorite Labor Day sporting tradition, the 2009 Deutsche Bank Championship features a record $7.5 million purse and a $1.35 million winner's check. It enters its third year as a PGA TOUR Playoffs event and is the second of four stops in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. Last year, Vijay Singh became the Championship's first two-time winner and won the FedExCup and its $10 million purse.
"We are striving to make the 2009 Championship our best yet," said Eric Baldwin, the Championship Director for the Deutsche Bank Championship. "We are offering a record purse and winner's check, and our field has been trimmed to 100 players, giving the tournament a more exclusive, playoff-like feel. We still have all our kids' activities and have added some new ticket incentives and fan features like the MasterCard Club and Stadium Club. Both clubs allow for a more comfortable and exciting way for fans to stay on top of all the playoff action and mingle amongst friends."
The Deutsche Bank Championship expects to be headlined by its last three winners and the three most successful golfers of all active PGA TOUR players - Singh, 2007 Championship winner Mickelson and 2006 champ Woods. Together, the trio holds 137 PGA TOUR titles and 20 majors. 2008 British Open and PGA Championship winner Padraig Harrington, 2009 Masters champion Angel Cabrera, Sergio Garcia, and rising stars Anthony Kim and Camilo Villegas are also expected to play in the Championship.

About TPC Boston
Originally designed by legendary player/designer Arnold Palmer, TPC Boston's award-winning layout was re-designed in 2007 by celebrated golf course architect Gil Hanse, with PGA TOUR player Brad Faxon serving as a consultant. The result is a compelling par-72, 7,241-yard masterpiece named by Golf Digest the "Best Private Remodel of 2007."
Crafted to fit seamlessly into the natural New England landscape, lush fairways and Bentgrass greens traverse gently rolling hills, with stands of mature trees, chocolate-drop mounds, numerous wetland areas, fescues and native grasses, and 92 deep bunkers creating a stunning backdrop for this superb test of golf in Norton's Great Woods. While challenging enough for the best players in the world during the Deutsche Bank Championship, five sets of tees on each hole make the course enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels.
At TPC Boston, remarkable golf is just the beginning of an outstanding PGA TOUR experience.
