ILION, N.Y. -- The International Clubmakers Guild, a newly formed alliance of professional golf clubmakers, fitters, swing coaches, golf equipment designers, and engineers has been formed to address all aspects of professional golf club making, fitting, instruction, repair and assembly. The announcement of the ICG was made by Steve Newton, ICG Secretary. Mr. Newton is a charter member and one of the original founders of the new organization.

"The mission of the ICG is to enhance the skills of membership regarding all aspects of clubmaking, fitting, and repair, and to offer educational and certification opportunities in the use of the most advanced industry procedures and design enhancements available today," said Newton. Currently, the ICG lists more than 200 international clubmakers among its membership ranks.

Additional Directors of the ICG for 2009 include Rick Canter from Stoughton, MA; Charlie Blume, president and CEO of SK Fiber Golf Shafts in Madison, AL; Bob Dodds of Louisville, KY, who is widely recognized by the golf industry as a foremost clubmaking authority; Ken Alterwitz of Loomis, CA; David Eagar of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Frank Viola from Saugus, MA; Jim Cook of Agawam, MA., and Hugh Townend of Bournemouth, Dorset, UK.
