Prince George CoC to host tourney at Andrews Air Force Base

LANHAM, Md. (May 15, 2006) -- The Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce and numerous regional golfers are gearing up to tee off on a course occasionally reserved for the President of the United States. The Prince George's Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Golf Tournament on June 27th at the prestigious South Course at Andrews Air Force Base, which is rated five stars by the US Air Force Golf Course Association. The tournament is a highlight of the local golfing calendar, and will be attended by some of the region's top business executives, local officials and celebrities.

This year's tournament will also pay tribute to the family of a Prince George's County Police Officer, Corporal Stephen Gaughan, who was slain on duty last year. The tournament's major sponsor, Greenhorne and O'Mara, is one of the county's oldest serving engineering firms. Tom Chicca of Greenhorne and O'Mara is an active Chamber member: "We are pleased to have this opportunity to support both the Chamber and the Family of Officer Stephen Gaughan."

Historically, the tournament is home to high-powered networking, which goes hand in hand with a hole in one. The county's movers and shakers gather each year to broker deals, raise money for charity and compete for the highly coveted Chamber Cup. Wendi Williams is the tournament organizer: "The Chamber tournament is a great opportunity to spend a day doing business on the golf course with business executives from throughout the metropolitan region."
