ORLANDO, Fla. -- Golf Channel's interactive instructional show The Golf Fix will honor military forces home and abroad with an episode on Memorial Day that will feature two wounded veterans from Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Airing at 8 p.m. ET, show host and renowned instructor Michael Breed will aid Sergeant John Botts and Staff Sergeant Justin Lynn in their quest to continue playing the game they love despite the loss of a limb. Botts, whose left leg was amputated above the knee, and Lynn, who lost the lower portion of his right leg, were avid golfers before their injuries and have used the game to rehabilitate. Both were wounded while serving a tour of duty in Iraq and met while rehabilitating at the Center for the Intrepid/Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, where they currently reside.
The two soldiers will appear on the The Golf Fix in cooperation with Hope for the Warriors, an organization whose mission is to enhance quality of life for U.S. service members and their families nationwide who have been adversely affected by injuries or death in the line of duty. The group provided Botts and Lynn with specialized golf equipment and unique opportunities to pursue their passion for golf.
The Golf Fix is a snappy fast-paced half-hour show that features viewer participation to not only address technique and golf skills, but also to broach subjects ranging from golf terminology to history. Shot live at Golf Channel studios in Orlando, Fla., Breed reviews the best and worst shots from the previous weekend's tournament action and demonstrates to viewers how to execute those shots as well as take questions from e-mail and callers. In addition, players from professional and celebrity ranks makes appearances on The Golf Fix to discuss their game.
Breed recently was named one of the top 100 instructors by Golf Magazine and has worked with PGA Tour winners Joe Ogilvie, Chris Smith, and J.J. Henry, as well as over 30 PGA Tour, LPGA and Nationwide Tour players. He also has authored the book "The Picture-Perfect Golf Swing" and is a frequent contributor to both Golf Magazine and Sports Illustrated.
