ORLANDO, Fla. -- Golf Channel officially launched its consumer initiative to celebrate Dads and golf mentors across America.
Building on the success of last year's inaugural Father's Day campaign, Golf Channel Father's Day Dream Trip will celebrate the special connection between fathers and their children, and will honor one lucky father and his son or daughter with a trip of a lifetime to the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links, and outfit them with the latest golf equipment from TaylorMade.
Presented by TaylorMade, the Father's Day Dream Trip is designed to help drive awareness of the longstanding American holiday and its connections to golf. The core of Golf Channel's Father's Day Dream Trip is a contest that encourages consumers to submit a story -- in 100 words or less - that recounts a life lesson learned from their fathers, father figures or golf mentors through the game of golf. Entries can be submitted through June 5 online at www.GolfChannel.com/FathersDay. On June 8, the entries will be narrowed to five finalists. Photos and videos can support any entry. The Father's Day Dream Trip micro-site will serve as the "headquarters" for the campaign, providing consumers with a chance to enter the essay contest and view other story submissions.
Voting will take place online June 8 - 15, and the public will be encouraged to cast their vote for their favorite entry. The winner will be announced during the network's Live From the U.S. Open telecast on Father's Day, which coincides with the final round of the U.S. Open.
The grand prize winner will receive an all-expenses paid dream trip for two to the 2010 U.S. Open, including $2,000 spending money. The winner and guest also will receive a professional fitting experience at the TaylorMade Kingdom in Carlsbad, Calif.; a custom set of new TaylorMade golf clubs, a round of golf with a TaylorMade PGA Tour or LPGA Tour professional and Golf Channel merchandise. During the network's Live From the U.S. Open coverage, viewers will have the opportunity to win daily prizes by watching for the daily TaylorMade code and entering it online at www.GolfChannel.com/FathersDay.
