Moody Gardens Golf Course announces hosting Moody Madness 3

GALVESTON, Texas -- The Moody Gardens Golf Course will host yet another unique tournament on Saturday, May 16. Moody Madness 3: Golf Tournament and Salsa Competition will feature a shamble 2 best ball format on 4-person teams to get golfers fired up. But players aren't just judged on their golfing skills. To spice up the event even further, a salsa completion will be held, and participants are encouraged to bring their homemade salsa for judging and sampling on the turn.

"I think this is going to be a nice change for many golfers," said Bill Pushak, general manager of the Moody Gardens Golf Course. "With some fun, you can really enjoy fresh gulf breezes this time of the year and maybe show off your salsa making skills.

Other than salsa and chips throughout the game, participants have Fiesta lunch to look forward to. Winners with golfing and cooking talent will receive prizes, but Pushak said "Even if you don't win, golf is simply a great stress reliever."

The Moody Gardens Golf Course first opened to the public in June 2008 after two years and more than $16 million in comprehensive renovations to the former Galveston Municipal Golf Course. As part of the renovations, Bermuda grass was replaced with salt-tolerant paspalum grass, which continually plays a critical role in keeping good conditions on the seaside greens. The Moody GardensĀ® Golf Course is one of the few facilities in the Continental U.S. to use paspalum exclusively throughout the course.

The event check-in will start at 7:30 a.m., and the tournament will kick off at 8:30 a.m. The registration fee of $65 will include green and cart fee, range balls, prizes and Fiesta dinner. For more information and event registration, please call 409-683-4653 or visit moodygardensgolf.com.

Moody GardensĀ® is a public, non-profit, educational destination utilizing nature in the advancement of rehabilitation, conservation, recreation, and research.
