SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- Marathon of Miracles (MOM), a cancer wellness advocacy nonprofit organization, announces the start of a 20-year, $100 million campaign to create 10,000 Miracle Wellness Gardens throughout the world. Golf courses are invited to participate in this program by allowing MOM to utilize a small area to create and maintain a wellness garden.

"My wife Jane and I, along with our team of committed cancer fighters from our Marathon of Miracles nonprofit organization, are committed to creating community wellness gardens all over the world to help people achieve holistic wellness so they can live free of cancer and other diseases," says A.J. Ali, Marathon of Miracles Co-Founder. "We believe that most chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, obesity, kidney disease and heart disease are a result of poor lifestyle choices in foods, fluids and fitness. Unfortunately, our society's collective diet revolves around nutrient-stripped processed foods, pesticide soaked mass produced fruits and vegetables and chemically altered meats, all of which break down the body's ability to fight off disease. Couple a compromised immune system with a toxic environment (air pollution, chemical dumping, etc.) and you have a cocktail for health disasters such as cancer. We want people to be educated about making the right nutritional choices as part of a holistic wellness program."

Miracle Wellness Gardens will typically be approximately 1/8-acre, which is 20 yards x 30 yards. Some may be larger and some may be smaller, depending on the available open space. We envision the gardens being in a variety of places including private, city and county properties, golf courses, churches, shopping centers, schools and on privately owned land to reach people about cancer awareness and wellness programs.

These gardens will:

- add tremendous educational value as a living classroom, helping students to get exercise while learning about proper nutrition and reducing their risk of diseases like cancer, diabetes and obesity
- transform a vacant lot into a beautiful natural habitat
- help our environment by creating an eco-friendly space
- reduce maintenance budgets (we'll maintain the garden space, so there will be less to maintain)
- help people emotionally that have a family member dealing with cancer by giving them a positive place to release stress, meditate and take some control back over the situation
- bring the community closer together by giving people opportunities to serve together in the garden
- create opportunities for partnerships with local restaurants and other community organizations that can support the garden

Funding for the Miracle Wellness Gardens will come from various sources including individual and corporate donations, grants and a mix of social entrepreneurship efforts including:
- A partnership between Marathon of Miracles and Daphne's Headcovers. Daphne's is the leader in golf club headcovers. Their President Jane Spicer created a pink tabby kitty for MOM that became a top-three selling product in the first year. Every time a golfer buys a pink tabby headcover, they get MOM information on a hangtag, they are invited to name their "adopted" kitty at the www.survivorcelebration.com website, and a donation is made to MOM. Adds A.J. Ali, "Jane Spicer and the entire Daphne's team have been great. They have been totally supportive of our mission and they are a shining example of how any company can find a unique way to help while also contributing to their bottom line. - A partnership between Marathon of Miracles and SCNS Sports Foods. This Fall a line of nuts, snack mix and nutrition bars under the "Marathon of Miracles" brand will be launched by SCNS Sports Foods, a leading provider of "better for you" snack products to golf courses and sports retailers. A donation to Marathon of Miracles will be made on all product sales. "We are delighted to be partnering with Marathon of Miracles" said Bill Stewart, co-owner. "These products are a great fit with the nutrition and holistic wellness goals of Marathon of Miracles." Adds A.J. Ali, "We welcome the opportunity to work with SCNS Sports Foods. - Profits from the Survivor Celebration TV Show, to be hosted by A.J. and Jane Ali beginning this Fall, will benefit MOM. In addition, MOM will receive free advertising exposure, event support and other benefits.
