Nick Faldo to launch upgraded Old Links at Ballyliffin on June 7

Faldo Design has just completed the renovation of The Old Links at

Ballyliffin Golf Club on the north west coast of County Donegal. Nick Faldo

has had strong ties with the club for a number of years and Faldo Design was

the obvious choice when the club decided to enhance and upgrade The Old

Links in 2003.

The long association with Nick Faldo has been instrumental in Ballyliffin's

meteoric rise to fame on the world golf map.

The club has firm ambitions to host further European Tour Events and this

significant investment in The Old Links is testament to the confidence of

Ballyliffin's members and council in their ability to deliver a world class

golf product.

The essential aim of the partnership with Faldo Design was to improve the

course's strategic qualities by way of a complete re-bunkering programme.

Faldo Design has created several new oceanside tees to better emphasise the

natural beauty of the situation. The front nine holes was renovated in 2005

and the reaction from members and visitors to the club has been extremely

positive. The back nine has just been completed on schedule and the club is

confident that the finished course now sits comfortably amongst the very

best Irish links courses.

Ballyliffin Golf Club is delighted with the results of Faldo Design's

renovation of The Old Links. The changes are subtle but very effective and

the integrity of the course, in its original design, has not been changed

but refined and improved. The most significant improvement to the layout and

memorability of the courses is the development of a new 14th hole along the

coastal boundary.

The club is confident that the renovated Old Links will quickly become

recognized as one of the world's finest links courses and, together with its

sister Glashedy Links, give Ballyliffin an unrivalled 36 hole championship

links complex.

Nick Faldo is scheduled to officially open The Renovated Old Links on June

7th 2006 and it is a testament to the high regard Mr. Faldo has for the

Ballyliffin Club in that he will bring along a group of elite young golfers

from his Faldo Series for links golf practice. Ballyliffin Golf Club is

particularly delighted with Nick's decision to bring the 'Team Faldo'

players to Ballyliffin and feel it will be a fabulous boost to youth golf in

the region.
