PALM BEACH, Fla. -- PGA Professional Kellie Stenzel of Palm Beach Gardens, has once again been bestowed a teaching accolade. In addition to her Golf for Women Top-50 instructor designation and Golf Digest touting her as one of the top golf instructors in New York, Stenzel has been selected as one of Golf Magazine's Top-100 Teachers in America.
"It is an honor to be included on a list among the greatest teachers of the game," said Stenzel, who started her teaching career in 1990 at Admirals Cove in Jupiter, Fla. "This award is a thrill and a culmination of years of experience and studying technique from some of the best instructors."
Stenzel works during the winter in Palm Beach at Palm Beach Par-3 and the Palm Beach Country Club and during the summer in the Hamptons at Atlantic Golf Club in Bridgehampton, N.Y. Along with being an accomplished professional golfer on the Ladies European Tour, Stenzel has published three golf instruction books: The Women's Guide to Golf: A Handbook for Beginners, The Women's Guide to Consistent Golf, and The Women's Guide to Lower Scores.
Golf Magazine bases their final decision to include an instructor among the Top-100 Teachers based upon a combination of the following 10 criteria (listed in order or importance): demonstrates swing knowledge; demonstrates communication skills; innovative teaching ideas; understanding of -- and flexibility in teaching -- different learning types; proven success in improving students' games; willingness to share knowledge with peers through workshops, seminars, etc.; teaching longevity; success instructing well-known golfer; number of nominations and recommendations; and industry awards from the PGA or LPGA or other peer recognition, such as speaking at regional and national teaching summits.
