Bom Sucesso Design Resort, Leisure and Golf has been hailed as one of golf's innovators having been acclaimed as the largest modern architecture project ever undertaken in Europe and has illustrated its forward thinking by signing up to National County Card (NCC).
Bom Sucesso's 18-hole championship golf course opened to widespread praise last September and has welcomed the chance to join the innovative scheme designed to benefit private member clubs and its members.
Situated close to the medieval Portuguese town of Obidos, one hour north of Lisbon, the resort's challenging new 6,228-metres par 72 lay-out was designed by renowned architect Donald Steel - his fifth course in Portugal.
And, thanks to the new agreement, NCC card holders will now be able to play Bom Sucesso at the best discounted green fee rates available as the scheme continues to grow and go from strength to strength.
"Bom Sucesso joined National County Card as it is a good promotional vehicle without incurring any marketing costs and helps by increasing our awareness," said Francisco Pinto Leite, golf sales director at Bom Sucesso.
"It is a good scheme and clever too, especially at a time when most companies are cutting back with advertising costs and we only have to give discounts when we have the golfers at the golf club.
"This type of scheme is important because we don't have any advertising costs and it is always attractive for the golfers to see that they will have the discounts we promote. Even if we don't have many golfers coming from NCC, we will always be on the 'map'."
NCC has more than 1,200 courses across the world in its expanding portfolio including Druids Glen Golf Resort in Ireland, San Roque, La Manga and PGA de Catalunya in Spain and two of the most famous venues in America - the Blue Monster at Doral and the Stadium Course at Sawgrass, Florida.
Card holders can play Bom Sucesso - which also features more than 1,000 uniquely designed properties and will open a new five-star hotel and spa next year - for 30 per cent less than the normal green fee during the high and low season.
Oceanico Group's seven courses signed up to the concept last year and, with Palmares Golf Club and Aroeira Golf Resort having also recently joined, NCC can now offer its members some of the best and most varied golfing terrain in Portugal at the cheapest possible rates.
Rob Sutton, managing director of NCC, said: "Bom Sucesso is one of the new generation of golf courses being built and they understand the importance of schemes like NCC.
"Portugal has long been one of the main destinations for golfers in the UK and, with the three new courses coming on board and joining the likes of Oceanico, card holders can enjoy great golf at the best discount rates possible all across the country."
All members of private members clubs with a valid handicap certificate can buy an NCC card and take advantage of discounted green fees at leading venues across the UK, Europe and North America by buying one of the cards for just £24.95 for 12 months' membership.
NCC is free to join for private members clubs and offers a series of benefits including a complimentary tailored advertising campaign at a nearby driving range - aimed at increasing memberships and visitor levels.
They will also receive a free listing on NCC's website that includes an advert for their club and photographs of the course where clubs can promote their facilities, accommodation and special offers.
In addition, enrolled clubs will also receive £5 per card sold when their members buy a card to play at any of the clubs enrolled in the scheme.
