BOLINGBROOK, Ill. -- Bolingbrook Golf Club has been named as one of the 2009 Best Courses You Can Play, according to a listing created by Golfweek, a weekly golf periodical with over 1.3 million readers. The upscale municipal course, located in Chicago's southwest suburb, will be ranked as one of the top public-access layouts in the United States, as selected by the magazine's ranking system it was announced today.
The full list will appear in the upcoming guide, Golfweek's Best Courses You Can Play, which touts itself as the essential handbook on where to go, play and experience the best of the best in golf. The guide will mail to subscribers May 1st and is a digest-sized directory designed to fit easily into golf bags, briefcases and glove compartments.
"We are extremely thrilled to be named to this prestigious list," said Terry Hanley, General Manager of Bolingbrook Golf Club. "It is further recognition of an outstanding facility that provides an unparalleled golfing experience."
And it is one more accolade from a major golf publication for the municipal facility, an Arthur Hills classic that was a result of the long-term vision of the Village of Bolingbrook and Mayor Roger Claar. Besides the Golfweek listing, the facility has been honored by Golf Magazine, Golf Digest, Chicagoland Golf, Great Lakes Golf, Golf Range Magazine and GolfIllinois.com.
As part of the Golfweek rating process, a national team of 450 golf course raters, judging on a basis of 10 criteria of architectural merit, determined the public access golf facilities to make the list.
