PGA Learning Center announces hosting Fore the Love of Golf

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- The PGA Learning Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla., will play host this Fri., Feb. 13, to 'Fore the Love of Golf," featuring legendary trick shot artist Dennis Walters, the Ryder Cup Trophy, Nationwide Tour player Jim Herman, contests and prizes, from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Admission is complementary, but attendees are asked to bring a canned or non-perishable item to benefit the Treasure Coast Food Bank as an "entry fee."

Walters, the 2008 PGA Distinguished Service Award winner, is a paraplegic who was paralyzed from the waist down in a golf car accident in the 1970s. His incredible demonstration of golf shots from a custom-built golf car will amaze and inspire, as Walters encourages all to reach their dreams with a message "that with hard work and perseverance, you can achieve success at almost anything." Walters will be joined for the demonstration by Hermann, a top player on the Nationwide Tour and a former PGA Country Club assistant professional.

"The Dennis Walters Show is something for everyone to see, as his love and passion for the game is an inspiration to us all," says Bob Baldassari, PGA general manager, PGA Village, which also encompasses the PGA Golf Club and PGA Historical Center. "He truly emulates the mantra, 'Never quit.' We can all learn a valuable lesson about life from him. As Dennis likes to say, he 'beats his handicap every time he plays.'"

Sports enthusiasts will also enjoy the Ryder Cup Trophy on display for all to see and have their picture taken with during the event. Samuel Ryder's golden chalice trophy is now proudly housed next door at the PGA Historical Center, which is open daily through Easter from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., with complimentary admission, as well.

The PGA Learning Center will also conduct putting and chipping contests for prizes, and offer Valentine's Day delicacies for the whole family to enjoy.
