Downey uses Alpha driver in long drive win at Texas Shootout

CHATSWORTH, Calif. -- Battling against multiple past World Long Drive Champions, John Downey captured a dramatic long drive victory with an extra 4 inches of carry to win LDA’s RE/MAX of Texas Shootout this past weekend. Competing with his Alpha C830.2 driver, the Safety Harbor, Florida resident shot 364 yards and 4 inches at Hank Haney’s City Pointe Driving Range in Dallas, adding to the list of multiple long drive victories this year for Alpha drivers.
Not only was the competition intense, playing against rainy conditions during several rounds forced Downey to rely on the quality of his driver to perform under such extreme and competitive circumstances.

“Alpha Golf technology is what I turn to for true performance, extreme power, and proven reliability,” says Downey. “With swing speeds of 155 mph, I never want to doubt the strength and solidness of my driver. Alpha drivers give me the confidence to play my best.”

Heading into the second half of 2006, Alpha undeniably solidifies its driven dedication to designing performance enhancing clubs. Along with the LDA’s RE/MAX of Texas Shootout win, Alpha captured victories across the board this year with James Horton’s ALDA Phoenix victory earlier last month, and Eric Jones’ double long drive victory at the Players Tour event in Orlando, FL.
