Coming up on Golf Channel…Feb. 9 - 15, 2009
Uneven Fairways (Premiere)
Wednesday (Feb. 11) at 9 p.m. ET, Golf Channel will premiere a first-of-its kind documentary revealing the story of the little known, but rich history of African-Americans who were forbidden to play golf at its highest level but refused to take no for an answer. Hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, Uneven Fairways will celebrate the men and women of the United Golf Association (UGA) who had the courage to challenge segregation, ultimately paving the way for future starts of the game. Featuring conversations with several of golf's pioneers and their families, insight from golf legends Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer and a personal tribute from Tiger Woods, Uneven Fairways will tell the story of a time when African-Americans - denied a place on tour - found a place in the sun. The documentary will re-air Thursday (Wednesday night) at midnight ET, Thursday at 1:30 p.m. ET and Sunday at 4 and 7 p.m. ET.
Uneven Fairways: A Discussion
Immediately following Uneven Fairways at 10 p.m. ET, Vince Cellini will host and moderate a roundtable panel discussion on the history of African-Americans in golf with three-time PGA Tour winner and 13-time Champions Tour winner Jim Thorpe, Uneven Lies author and Uneven Fairways co-writer Pete McDaniel, New York University professor of Sociology and African-American Studies Dr. Jeffrey Sammons and Golf World senior writer Bill Fields.

LPGA Commissioner Carolyn Bivens will join hosts Vince Cellini and John Hawkins as the featured guest on the Grey Goose 19th Hole, Golf Channel's fast-paced talk show, Wednesday (Feb. 11) at 8 p.m. ET.
