Cathy Harbin is announced as the new director of Golf 20/20

Cathy Harbin, a golf industry veteran and longtime champion of player-development initiatives within the game, is the new director of Golf 20/20.

Harbin currently serves as the general manager and director of leadership development and training for Honours Golf Co.'s two World Golf Villages properties, the Slammer & Squire and King & Bear courses in St. Augustine, Fla. In her new position, she will oversee development and implementation of Get Golf Ready, a new adult player development program launched last month by Golf 20/20, among other responsibilities.

"Cathy has outstanding leadership skills and understands in a very fundamental way how to provide beginners and experienced golfers alike with a meaningful connection to the game," says Steve Mona, CAE, the CEO of the World Golf Foundation. "She has been a very active and involved participant in the Golf 20/20 process since its launch in 2000."

Harbin has provided day-to-day leadership at the two World Golf Village layouts since before their official openings in June 1997, first as director of golf with Scratch Golf Co. and then as general manager since June 2000 when Honours Golf acquired the properties. Previously, she held several teaching and management positions at American Golf Corp. properties in Florida.

A graduate of Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind., she has received numerous awards for her work with player-development initiatives, including the Growth of the Game Award from the North Florida section of the PGA. She was also received recognition as one of the Most Admired Golf Course Operators by Golf Inc. magazine and was named the Woman of the Year by Golf News magazine.
