Paul Hunt garners recognition as TGAA Tour Player of the Year

WASHINGTON D.C. -- Building on its success as the premier Pro-Net Tour in the Mid-Atlantic, the Tournament Golf Association of America (www.tgaatour.com) is proud to congratulate Paul Hunt for being named the TGAA Tour Player of the Year.

Competing in his fifth full season on the premiere Pro-Net tour in the Mid-Atlantic, Paul claimed the prestigious title of being named the TGAA Tour Player of the Year. Paul, a low single digit handicap golfer on the tour, credits his consistent play as the main reason for winning the award. Paul played in 36 official TGAA Tour events in 2008 where he claimed one victory, finished in the money 15 times (41% of the time) and posted an astonishing 20 top ten finishes (56% of the time).

The TGAA Tour uses a proprietary point system to determine their player of the year award winner. This unique system provides a fair an equitable approach to a season-long point race that determines the overall champion. Paul finished the season with 12,050 points and defeated a total of 161 other TGAA Tour professional net golfers for the award.

In speaking with Paul after being awarded the TGAA Tour Player of the Year trophy, it was evident that he was tremendously honored with the accomplishment. "This is amazing. My goal at the beginning of the season was to be named the player of the year. I devoted time during the offseason to get myself into the position to play my best. I played in a few additional events to earn additional points so that I could be in a position at the end of the year to be named player of the year. I believe this lead to my being pretty consistent throughout the whole season. What I am really proud of is the fact that I finished in the money in all four of our majors" (note: the TGAA Tour awards the top 25% of the field at every event).

Hunt wanted to offer a final comment - "I cannot thank enough, those at the TGAA Tour, who make these events possible. For the avid and aspiring golfer, many of us have always dreamt of playing competitive golf at the professional level and maybe having the ability to take it to the next level. However…maybe it was because of family…or career…or a reality check that caused a shift in priorities. The TGAA Tour has allowed me the opportunity to live my dream of playing professional golf on a very competitive Pro-Net tour, while still maintaining a work-life balance with my full-time career and family. I get to play on many golf courses throughout the Mid-Atlantic that, because of one reason or another, I otherwise might not play. The best part is that, as a pro-net golfer on the TGAA Tour, I get to play these courses and compete for $1,000+ first place checks on a Saturday or Sunday. Though I am a low single-digit handicap, because of the proprietary handicap system they use, I have the chance to be competitive with those golfers with handicaps in the mid-teens or higher. I cannot wait until next year so that I can defend this title!"

For his efforts, Paul won the coveted TGAA Tour Player of the Year award and received a bonus payout of $1,700. In all, the top ten finishers in the TGAA Tour's Player of the Year Race each received a bonus payout from a total purse of $6,600.
