GREENSBORO, Ga. -- Reynolds Landing has been selected as the winner in the remodel/renovation category of the 2008 Golf Inc. Magazine Clubhouse Competition. The Reynolds Landing clubhouse opened in September 2007 after extensive renovations.
Judging was based on a combination of three factors - efficiency, aesthetics and vision - and Reynolds Landing excelled in all three categories. The renovation project included the demolition of the original clubhouse and the dramatic transformation of a 33-room inn into the present clubhouse. An extensive amenity package was included in the project.
"When we first began planning the revitalization of the clubhouse at Reynolds Landing, we had a vision that this clubhouse would be the hub of activity for the community. We wanted to create a place where families and friends would enjoy gathering on a daily basis and with the amenities we brought to the clubhouse, we have been able to achieve just that," said Rabun Neal, president of Reynolds Plantation and Reynolds Landing. "With an exceptional restaurant, fitness facility, golf shop and outdoor pool surrounded by a recreational field and lighted tennis courts, it is such a pleasure to see the members enjoying these facilities. Since completion of this project, we have seen a renewed sense of pride among the community."
The runner-up in the remodel/renovation category is Evanston Golf Club in Skokie, Ill. Other finalists include Sunnybrook Golf Club in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., the Country Club at DC Ranch in Scottsdale, Ariz., and TPC Valencia in Valencia, Calif.
All the winners and finalists will be recognized in the November issue of Golf Inc. Judges for the competition were Dan Nicholas, principal of PHN Architects, David MacLaren, director of property and venue development for the European PGA Tour and Marjorie Feltus- Hawkins principal of Feltus-Hawkins Design.
"Reynolds Landing is a stunning and ambitious remodeling, which clearly started with a comprehensive examination of what was actually required for members and the community," said MacLaren.
