BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Oct. 30, 2004 – FlightScope, made by EDH Sport, was the subject of Adam Barr's Business Report on The Golf Channel's "Golf Central," which aired nationwide on Oct. 26.
Filmed in Mesquite, Nev., at last week's Re/Max World Long Drive Championship, the segment explained how FlightScope, a state-of-the-art ball flight monitor, employs sophisticated technology to provide accessible and highly accurate data to golfers for the purposes of instruction, club fitting and game improvement.
"We were pleased to be featured on the show, and appreciated the chance for players across the country to learn about FlightScope and how it provides extensive ball flight information," said Marc Solda, president of EDH Sport. "By visiting an instructional facility that uses FlightScope, players will increase their understanding and thereby enhance their games."
Pat Dempsey, winner of the Long Drivers of America (LDA) Tour event July 24-25 in Rochester, New York, as well as the Senior Division title at the 2002 Re/Max World Long Drive Championship, has been a FlightScope user since March. Other leading Long Drivers are FlightScope users as well.
In other recent FlightScope news, DartFish, a leading video analysis system, now has the capability of integrating with the FlightScope Pro. This system integration benefits instructors and golfers by providing swing analysis in conjunction with ball flight information.
FlightScope technology was installed this year at the PGA of America Learning Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla. In addition, FlightScope was in prominent use at the "Battle at the Bridges," a charity exhibition match televised live by ESPN and ABC Aug. 2 from the Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., featuring Tiger Woods and Hank Kuehne in match play against John Daly and Phil Mickelson.
FlightScope, introduced at the PGA Merchandise Show in January, is a portable indoor-outdoor unit that employs a Phase Array Tracking Sensor and proprietary technology to record accurately the ball in flight and to provide actual launch data. The characteristic distinguishing FlightScope from existing launch monitor technology is that FlightScope is the only product in the world that can record the ball flight accurately in the precise environment in which the ball travels, thereby providing actual rather than implied data. The resultant ability of golfers, instructors and club fitters to see the actual ball trajectory at various angles allows them to make precise adjustments for enhanced performance.
