New junior tour prepares for launch in central North Carolina

The Tarheel Junior Golf Tour will provide nationally ranked 36-hole events for skilled players that aspire to play in college. Over fifteen events are scheduled for 2009, include tournaments at two new North Carolina golf courses, The Club at 12 Oaks in Holly Springs, designed by Jack Nicklaus and the Arnold Palmer designed Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University.

"The Tarheel Junior Tour has been established to deliver a lower total cost of participation in nationally ranked events for the junior golfers of Central North Carolina. We hope that this tour will reduce some of the financial and family sacrifices that parents, players and other family members must deal with to play competitive junior golf at a high level", said TGF Director Eric Murray.

The tour's first event is January 24-25, 2009 at Duke University Golf Club in Durham, NC. The tour is open to boys and girls under 18 years old that have not yet started college.
